Welcome to District 58! As you get ready for your child to enter kindergarten, we wanted to share some helpful kindergarten resources with you.

- School Boundary Maps. Please contact your child's future school to let them know your child will be attending next school year and to be added to a future kindergartener contact list!
- Consider the Dual Language Program. Incoming kindergarteners can apply to participate in District 58's two-way Dual Language Program. The program is open to both native English and Spanish speakers and is located at El Sierra School. Click here to learn more about the Dual Language Program. - 2025 Kindergarten Roundups: District 58 schools will hold in-person Kindergarten Roundup events in March 2025. Kindergarten Roundup gives parents and guardians the opportunity to visit their child’s future school, meet the principal and staff, and ask questions. We will post the Kindergarten Roundup schedule in mid-January 2025.
- 2025-26 Student Registration: 2025-26 registration will open in February. Please visit our Registration webpage to learn more about the registration process.

- About: District 58 offers a full-day kindergarten program. The full-day program is non-tuition and offers teachers more flexibility in delivering instruction, socialization time, deeper discovery and play-based learning. As with other grade levels, customary registration fees will be required. The kindergarten instructional day is consistent with other elementary grade levels: 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Monday) 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Tuesday-Friday). Please note that Monday is early release so staff can take advantage of professional learning.
- By state law, school districts must offer a half-day kindergarten option. Families interested in pursuing this program should contact their school office. Details regarding the half-day program will be finalized once the level of district-wide interest is obtained.

- Food services – District 58 offers hot lunch daily at Herrick and O’Neill and a boxed lunch option at the elementary schools.
- Before and after school care: District 58 contracts with Champions to provide before- and after-school care at all District 58 elementary schools. Some schools also partner with local child care centers to provide before- and after-school transportation to and from those centers. Contact your child's school to learn more.

Free and Reduced Meal Forms
If your family qualifies for free/reduced meals, please complete the following paperwork. The below forms are for the 2024-25 school year. We will update these forms for 2025-26 during summer 2025. If you do not have access to a printer, you can receive paper copies of these forms from your school office. Please note, if you received a District 58 email during the week of July 22, 2024 that identified your student as being directly certified, you do not need to complete the below paperwork. Please respond to the email if you would like to receive free/reduced meals.
- If you have children in both elementary and middle school only one application is necessary for all students. The completed forms may be returned to the child’s school or mailed to: Manager of Business Services, Downers Grove District 58, 2300 Warrenville Road, Suite 200NE, Downers Grove, IL 60515.

- District 58 offers services to homeless students and their families according to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act. For homeless services, please contact Jessica Stewart at jstewart@dg58.org or 630-719-5824. Read more about services and eligibility here.
- All District 58 schools are staffed with social workers, psychologists, nurses and other support staff to serve student needs.
