District 58’s gold-rated preschool program is open to all children who live within District 58 boundaries and who will be 3 or 4 on Sept. 1, 2026. The program serves three groups of preschoolers: tuition/community students, Preschool for All grant students, and special education students.
As of 2026-27, Grove Children’s Preschool will be located only at Henry Puffer School in Downers Grove. Students attend school five days per week during either a morning or an afternoon session.

After the application period closes, Grove Children's Preschool will contact families to inform them of their application status.

Please register as a "New Student" if your student has not attended preschool in District 58 before; please register as a "Returning Student" if your child attended Grove Children's Preschool last year.

Welcome to District 58! New student registration for the 2026-27 school year is open from February 13 to March 13, 2026. Please follow the instructions below to register your new student!
Note: If your child attends Grove Children's Preschool or will enter middle school next year, please follow the Returning Student Registration process below.
Illinois law requires all students to reside in the school district that they attend. District 58 requires all new students to provide three forms of residency proofs during the registration process. The proofs are due before the first day of school.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 58 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
New families are required to provide the following. These documents may be uploaded directly to the "Document Uploads" page of the registration portal, or you may submit these files directly to your school, either in person, by mail or by email.
- ONE of the following: driver's license or state ID (to prove identity)
- ONE of the following: homeownership title/deed, homeowners insurance, renter nsurance, apartment lease with full name and current address
- ONE of the following: either a current gas, water or electric bill with full name and current address.
- View our School Boundary Map to determine the correct school for your child.
Go to the PowerSchool Registration Portal to begin the new student registration process for School Year 2026-27 (next year) or School Year 2025-26 (current year).

Returning student registration is open from February 13 to March 13, 2026. We encourage families to please submit their children's registration as quickly as possible, as this will help District 58 make critical staffing decisions in a timely manner.
District 58 will continue to contract with Thomson Reuters CLEAR, a third party vendor, to automatically verify student address information. The vendor will use parent and/or guardian names and addresses to crosscheck the information against other public electronic databases, such as utility companies, DMV records, property tax records. This service has been safely used by many surrounding school districts to verify student residency information, including District 99.
In some circumstances, additional documentation will be needed:
- Families of all new students
- Families of all kindergarten students (regardless of preschool attendance or current siblings in the District)
- Families that annually lease their residence
- Families that provide an affidavit of residency
- Families whose residency is not able to be electronically verified
If the District is unable to verify your address, you will be contacted by your child's school office to verify your residency in order to register for the 2026-2027 school year.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 58 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
