Registration
District 58's 2025-26 Student Registration for new and returning students will open on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025. Please view the information below to register your student. Please submit registration by March 31, 2025.
Registration is the first step in a complex process to plan for the coming school year. By registering your child by March 31, we can:
- Confirm Student Numbers: We can closely estimate the number of students who will attend our schools next year.
- Staff: We then determine the number of staff positions we will need.
- Hire and Retain: We hire quality staff members for open positions.
- Prepare: We can plan our transportation needs and begin ordering instructional materials and other resources.
- Create Schedules: We can create student and staff schedules based on anticipated enrollment and student needs.
Thank you for supporting a smooth transition to the next school year!
District 58’s gold-rated preschool program is open to all children who live within District 58 boundaries and who will be 3 or 4 on Sept. 1, 2025. The program serves three groups of preschoolers: tuition/community students, Preschool for All grant students, and special education students.
* Preschool for All/Special Education Students: Students must complete a developmental screening to be considered for a Preschool for All grant or preschool special education services. Students who qualify for a grant or special education services through the screening process do not need to complete a preschool application - they will automatically be accepted into the program. However, their families will need to complete the online registration process, outlined in the sections below.
* Tuition/Community Students: Grove Children’s Preschool tuition applications for the 2025-26 school year are open online at www.dg58.org/preschool from Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Wednesday, March 19. After the application period closes, Grove Children's Preschool will contact families to inform them of their application status. Students who are accepted into the Grove Children's Preschool program must complete online student registration, following the steps outlined below. Please register as a "New Student" if your student has not attended preschool in District 58 before; please register as a "Returning Student" if your child attended Grove Children's Preschool last year.
Grove Children’s Preschool is located at Henry Puffer School and Indian Trail School in Downers Grove. Students attend school five days per week during either a morning or an afternoon session. Learn more about Grove Children’s Preschool.
We are so excited to educate your child throughout his/her years in District 58! Please visit www.dg58.org/kindergarten for helpful kindergarten information and contact your child’s future school to receive school-related information.
We request that all incoming kindergarten families complete registration between Feb. 4, 2025-March 31, 2025. This will help District 58 plan staffing, transportation, resources and more.
Incoming kindergarteners can apply to participate in District 58's Dual Language Program. The program is open to both native English and Spanish speakers and is located at El Sierra School. Complete a Kindergarten Dual Language Interest Form. Save the date: Attend the District 58 Kindergarten Dual Language Information Night (Noche de información sobre lenguaje dual para kindergarten - Español) on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at El Sierra School, 6835 Fairmount Drive. The event will take place in English and Spanish.
Please register your incoming kindergarten student online via the "New Student Registration" portal in the section below. (If your incoming kindergartener currently attends Grove Children's Preschool, please follow the "Returning Student Registration" process below.)
Welcome to District 58! New student registration for the 2025-26 school year is open from Feb. 4-March 31, 2025. Please follow the instructions below to register your new student!
Note: if your child currently or previously attended Grove Children’s Preschool, please follow the Returning Student Registration process below. In addition, if your child attends sixth grade at a District 58 school and will enter Herrick or O'Neill next school year, please follow the Returning Student Registration process as well.
Illinois law requires all students to reside in the school district that they attend. District 58 requires all new students to provide three forms of residency proofs during the registration process. The proofs are due before the first day of school.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 58 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.

Returning student registration is open from Feb. 4-March 31, 2025. We encourage families to please submit their children's registration as quickly as possible, as this will help District 58 make critical staffing decisions in a timely manner.
Please view the below registration information to complete your child’s registration.
District 58 will continue to contract with Thomson Reuters CLEAR, a third party vendor, to automatically verify student address information. The vendor will use parent and/or guardian names and addresses to crosscheck the information against other public electronic databases, such as utility companies, DMV records, property tax records. This service has been safely used by many surrounding school districts to verify student residency information, including District 99.
In some circumstances, additional documentation will be needed:
- Families of all new students
- Families of all kindergarten students (regardless of preschool attendance or current siblings in the District)
- Families that annually lease their residence
- Families that provide an affidavit of residency
- Families whose residency is not able to be electronically verified
If the District is unable to verify your address, you will receive a letter directly from our District Office. The letter will provide details regarding the additional information you will need to provide in order for your child to start the 2025-26 school year.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 58 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
