During a special meeting July 11, the Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Board of Education unanimously appointed Kirat Doshi to complete the unexpired term of Beth Taylor, who recently moved away from the area. The Board selected Doshi after interviewing seven candidates from the pool. Board President Doug Purcell shared that Doshi’s work ethic, commitment and experience helped him stand out among the other candidates.
“The Board interviewed many qualified candidates, and we are very happy to announce the appointment of Kirat Doshi,” Purcell said. “Mr. Doshi is a hard-working, well-prepared and data-driven decision maker. He is very committed to supporting the District 58 mission and the successful implementation of the new District 58 Strategic Plan. We are confident he will be a tremendous asset to the Board.”
Doshi serves as a member on the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 Board of Directors and as a member of the Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council. He also works as the managing director of analytics for OneGoal, a non-profit college-access organization that helps low-income youth in urban high school districts across the country. In this role, he analyzes real-time data to help students and educators make informed decisions. Doshi earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Doshi resides in the Highland School attendance area with his wife and two children, ages 4 and 1.
“First and foremost, I’m interested in serving my community in an impactful way,” Doshi said. “Given the recent approval of the new Strategic Plan, I feel prepared to help move the district forward through both my own experience and also my strong network of experts in the education field to help inform me on specific topics related to teaching and learning, community engagement, and education facility improvements. I thank the Board for giving me this opportunity to serve.”
