The District 58 Board of Education will hold a Regular Business Meeting on Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Downers Grove Civic Center, 850 Curtiss St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. The public may also view the meeting remotely, via the Village of Downers Grove’s YouTube account.
The agenda covers many topics, including:
- A Pierce Downer School presentation.
- A spotlight on the Education Foundation of Downers Grove School District 58.
- A spotlight that reviews past District 58 assessment data and a preview for future data presentations.
- A recommendation to approve a resolution regarding the honorable dismissal of teachers and educational support staff. Annually, positions are reduced pending enrollment and staffing plans for the upcoming year. When District 58 can verify its enrollment needs for next school year, the District hopes to call back many of these important employees. School code requires that notice be given to affected teachers 45 days prior to the end of the school year.
- A recommendation to approve the District’s Five-Year Financial Plan.
- A recommendation to adopt a resolution authorizing a property tax abatement for the Rexnord facility for the 2024 tax year.
- A recommendation to approve the lease of three classrooms to SASED for the 2025-26 school year for a total of $69,000.
- A recommendation to approve the lease of 510 iPads, 510 STM cases and four years of AppleCare+ coverage for a total of $226,924.50.
- A recommendation to approve the purchase of 100 MacBook Airs from Apple for a cost of $87,900.
- A recommendation to designate a variety of items as surplus and placed on a public auction site.
- A recommendation to purchase middle school assembly and music room chairs from Henriksen for $130,086.05, as part of this summer’s referendum construction work.
- A recommendation to approve contracts with Hollander for $43,861.50 and Hallett for $61,292 for moving services for four elementary schools and two middle schools that will be under construction this summer.
- A recommendation to approve the purchase of 45 Epson PowerLite 770F projectors and mounts for a total cost of $68,544.00 from Midwest Computer Products.
