Two District 58 students receive Honorable Mentions at state level

The Illinois PTA Reflections art competition recently selected an art project created by Nora James, an O’Neill seventh grader, to advance to the National PTA Reflections competition. Only 27 students statewide advanced to this level of the competition! The state competition also awarded State Honorable Mentions to two District 58 students. District 58 congratulates all three students on their achievement.

Reflections is a national PTA arts recognition and achievement program for students. Through Reflections, students are invited to submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The theme for the 2024-25 program is "Accepting Imperfection”. The Illinois PTA will celebrate all artworks that qualified for the State PTA Reflections Program at a ceremony on May 17 in Champaign, Illinois.

Nora is advancing to the National PTA Reflections competition for her artwork, titled, “Human Law,” in the Film Production category. Her project will be featured among the top young artists in the country during the National PTA Reflections competition, which will take place this spring.

In addition, Ashley Erickson, a Lester sixth grader, received a State Honorable Mention for her artwork, “Beautiful in Every Different Way,” in the Dance Choreography category. Henry Haley, a Belle Aire sixth grader, received a State Honorable Mention for his artwork, “The Nature of Imperfection,” in the photography category.
