The District 58 Board of Education will hold a Regular Business Meeting on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Belle Aire School, 3935 Belle Aire Lane. The meeting will begin with a closed session at 7 p.m., and the regular business meeting will start at approximately 7:30 p.m. Please note: this is an updated location from what was previously communicated. This meeting was originally scheduled for the new Downers Grove Civic Center; however, this space is not yet completely ready for use.
The public may also view the meeting remotely, via the District’s YouTube channel.
The agenda covers many topics, including:
- A public hearing on District 58’s proposed 2024-2027 E-Learning Plan. The District’s current E-Learning Plan expires this year, and Illinois School Code requires school districts to hold a public hearing before adopting the renewed plan. Later in the meeting, the Board will be asked to approve District 58’s 2024-2027 E-Learning Plan. Learn more.
- A recommendation to approve a $12,500 donation from the Roadrunners Soccer Club to support the needs of students who struggle with regulation and calming through the provision of sensory tools and classroom calming corners.
- A recommendation to designate a 5-drawer lateral file cabinet and two mini mag floor machines as surplus, so they can be sold at auction.
- A recommendation to approve a bid for Hillcrest and Henry Puffer’s post-construction move-in services.
- A recommendation to approve bids for mechanical and electrical equipment for Fairmount, Indian Trail, Kingsley and Lester schools. These are the elementary schools scheduled for phase 2 construction, and the equipment will be installed in summer 2025. The bid process is taking place early to ensure all equipment is delivered in time for next summer’s work.
- A recommendation to approve the installation of 39 projectors for Herrick and O’Neill over two years (school years 2024-25 and 2025-26).
- A recommendation to approve a bid for playground mulch.
