To remove barriers to accessing mental health services for its families, Downers Grove Grade School District 58 is partnering with ReferralGPS.
The collaboration provides District 58 families and staff with access to a curated database of mental health professionals through ReferralGPS at no cost. Funding is made possible through the recent state grant that District 58 earned from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
“The partnership with ReferralGPS is a big win for our staff, students and families as it will help them navigate a complex mental health care system,” said District 58 Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell.
“School mental health professionals frequently serve as vital links between homes, communities and educational resources,” said Jessica Stewart, Assistant Superintendent for Special Services. “This partnership equips them with tools, enabling them to provide even more effective support to students and their families, ultimately nurturing emotional and academic development.”
School district staff and families may access ReferralGPS by:
- Contacting District 58 Student Services (social workers, psychologists, counselors) to seek out personalized provider lists
- Visiting https://referralgps.com/find-help/DG58 to search for treatment resources or connect with a Care Navigator anonymously
The platform has the ability to filter by mental health concern, clinician gender/specialty, location, and insurance acceptance. The service is available for all types of private and public insurance options including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, and families that are uninsured or underinsured. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS assists families in triage and appointment setting.
ReferralGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at no cost. All information entered on the ReferralGPS tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
