The Education Foundation of District 58 held its 10th Annual Oktoberfest on Sept. 15 and 16. The event wasn't just a festival but a community gathering and annual fundraiser for District 58 and a celebration of culture and education. Thousands came to downtown Downers Grove over the two days for live bands, Oktoberfest food, Kids Zone, karaoke and petting zoo. The band Maggie Speaks Celebrity Sit-In featured an all-star celebrity line-up who performed with the band, including singers from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey and Chicago Bears legend Dan Hampton, who also signed autographs. Other live bands were James Bruebach, Classical Blast, Tarra, Thrill Pill, Reckless and authentic German musicians Frank K & Company. Dozens of District 58 teachers, staff and administrators as well as community members volunteered at the festival. Net proceeds from the event go toward the Education Foundation's programs that support School District 58, including Teacher Grants, Distinguished Service Awards, Principal Grants, Eighth Grade Service Awards, Authors and Writers Fest and much more!
