The Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club donated $12,573 to Downers Grove Grade School District 58 to purchase accessible playground equipment for Downers Grove’s early childhood program. The Roadrunners co-hosted the Grove Express 5K race in downtown Downers Grove last November, and this donation comes from their portion of the Grove Express proceeds.
“As always, the Roadrunners Soccer Club’s generous support of District 58 is very much appreciated. The funds will be used to enhance playground equipment for our preschool students,” said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell. “We would also like to thank the incredible involvement of the Downers Grove community for their support of the Grove Express 5K, which makes this donation possible.”
This donation will specifically fund accessible playground equipment for preschool children.
“The Roadrunners’ ongoing generosity has been incredible and a wonderful reflection of how much our community recognizes and values inclusion,” said Assistant Superintendent for Special Services Jessica Stewart.
“We are very excited to continue to support D58. Building a new playground for preschool kids attending D58 is in perfect sync with our mission to support children’s well-being in our community,” said Don Renner, treasurer of the Downers Grove Roadrunners Club and the Director of the Grove Express 5K.
The Roadrunners gave District 58 discretion on how to best use the funds within its special education programs.
In addition to this $12,573 donation, the Roadrunners organization annually supports District 58 through school supply donations in August, holiday gift donations in December, and other donations throughout the year.
