Dear District 58 Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you are having an enjoyable winter break, and I look forward to seeing students back to school in person on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
As I shared last Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its COVID-19 guidance, reducing the number of days for quarantine and isolation for the general public. Click here to read more. Last week, I shared that school districts had not received guidance regarding whether they would be following the new CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines.
Since last week’s message, we have been informed from the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health that these changes do not yet apply to schools; as a result, we will continue with our current protocols. We expect changes to be announced in the coming days or weeks. If and when they do, we will notify you of any changes to current protocols as soon as possible.
Our district as a whole has done an excellent job of staying healthy, and we will continue to follow all of our mitigation strategies to continue this trend. My goal, as it has been since the start of the pandemic, is to keep students in school and learning in person.
Thank you, and we will you see you soon,
Dr. Kevin Russell
