Dear District 58 Families,
Onsite students will turn in their District-issued student iPads and Chromebooks on Tuesday, June 8.
Remote students may turn in their iPads and Chromebooks at their school office either Thursday, June 10 after school (and by 4 p.m.) or on Friday, June 11 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For iPads, please follow the below steps and ensure your child turns in his or her iPad, iPad case and charger (block and cable) on time.
- Back up data (optional). All student data on 1:1 iPads will be permanently deleted this summer. Please back up any content you want to preserve on your child’s device before turning it in. While it is optional to back up content, it is the only way to save the work your child has produced on his or her device. Need help? Check out these helpful resources:
- How to organize and back up your iPad data: dg58.us/ipadbackup
- How to upload photos and videos to Google Drive: dg58.us/drivephotos
- Charge your iPad completely.
- Cover your iPad with the District-issued iPad case. Please remove your personal iPad case, if you have one.
- Submit your child’s iPad, iPad case and charger to his or her classroom teacher!
For Chromebooks, backing up content is not necessary. However, eighth grade students and other students leaving the District may be interested in preserving some of their content, as they will lose access to their District 58 accounts over the summer. Here is some information on how to transfer Google Data to a personal account.
Please turn in all technology equipment by the date listed above or by the alternative date communicated by the teacher.
Note on Summer School: Students participating in Summer School should follow the above procedures for turning in their device. Students in Summer School Session I will get their device back on the last day of school to use during Summer School. Students participating in Summer School Sessions II and III will receive an iPad when their session begins.
If you have any questions regarding the iPad return process, please contact our Technology Office at 630-719-2768.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
James Eichmiller, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent for Technology and Learning
