The annual Bonfield Express 5K fundraiser goes virtual
Downers Grove Grade School District 58 thanks the Bonfield Express Foundation, a local charity, for donating $1,000 to each of its 13 schools this year. The Bonfield Express Foundation made this donation to support educational resources and student achievement.
“Now more than ever, District 58 is very grateful for the continued support of the Bonfield Express. This local organization annually raises money through its Bonfield Express 5K run and donates much of that money right back to the local schools. We are very fortunate to have wonderful organizations like Bonfield Express in our community!” said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell.
Since the Bonfield Express Foundation was founded in 2004, it has given back over $700,000 in scholarships and funding to area schools.
The Bonfield Express’s capstone fundraising effort is its annual community Bonfield Express 5K. The race will take place on Thanksgiving morning in a virtual format, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To learn more or to sign up for the Bonfield Express 5K, please visit www.bonfieldexpress.com.
Proceeds from this family-friendly event support the educational grants and scholarships that the Bonfield Express provides District 58 and other local school districts.
The Bonfield Express Foundation, named after the late Jim Bonfield, raises money to help local students who demonstrate Jim Bonfield’s character traits: personal perseverance, strong moral character, joy of learning and commitment to community.
