Winter benchmarking data now available

Downers Grove SD58 News

Dear District 58 Parents and Guardians,

Individual student winter benchmarking data is now available for you to view in SQUIRREL.  Students in grades K-8 will have a Winter 2020 MAP score in reading and math (this is the assessment that was given in December 2019.)  The information available will include your child’s achievement, measured as a RIT score (the MAP unit of measurement), as well as a national percentile.  It will also include your child’s growth projection and attainment from the Winter 2019-Winter 2020 assessment; the growth your child attained is measured against a predetermined target based upon their Winter 2019 achievement score.  NWEA provides a parent toolkit on their website that provides parents with answers to many frequently asked questions.

After your initial login to SQUIRREL, you will notice text that reads “Click here for assessment history and detail.”  Here, you will find more historical assessment data as well as the opportunity to access AIMSWeb data, which will be available for all of our students in kindergarten through second grade and selected students in third grade and up.

Our upcoming parent-teacher conferences offer an opportunity for meaningful conversations around this data.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about accessing or interpreting your child’s data, please don’t hesitate to contact your classroom teacher or building principal; I am also happy to answer any questions you may have from a district perspective.

Sincerely,

Justin Sisul

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction
