The Illinois Music Education Association, or ILMEA, selected 39 Downers Grove Grade School District 58 students to perform in its upcoming music and jazz festivals this November.
Thirty-six of the students will perform in ILMEA’s District 1 Junior High Music Festival on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Joliet Township High School. In addition, three District 58 students will perform in the ILMEA District 1 Jazz Band Festival on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Oak Lawn High School.
The ILMEA Festival takes place each year and features talented musicians from District 1, which includes students from 50 participating schools in the surrounding area. The students audition for the chance to perform in concert.
