Downers Grove Grade School District 58 invites the community to a unique opportunity to watch student musicians perform with a professional and well-regarded musical trio from New York.
The District 58 and District 99 orchestras will play with PROJECT Trio, a professional music group from Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Clarence Johnson Auditorium at Downers Grove North High School. Tickets cost $15 and may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/projecttriotickets. Please purchase in advance to guarantee seating.
“We feel very fortunate to have the unique opportunity to perform with PROJECT Trio, and we look forward to welcoming them to Downers Grove,” said Julie Spring, orchestra director at O’Neill, Fairmount, Hillcrest and Indian Trail schools. “Our students are so excited, and they have been practicing very hard! PROJECT Trio is known for their high-energy, genre-defying performances, and the Oct. 16 show should be no exception.”
The Oct. 16 concert will feature student musicians from Herrick Middle School, O’Neill Middle School, Downers Grove North High School and Downers Grove South High School.
PROJECT Trio performs internationally and leads workshops in schools, universities, festivals and other venues throughout the United States; its YouTube channel has over 85 million views and 100,000 subscribers, making it one of the most watched instrumental ensembles on the Internet. The Wall Street Journal hailed PROJECT Trio for its “wide appeal, subversive humor and first-rate playing.” Gramophone Magazine wrote: “An ensemble willing and able to touch on the gamut of musical bases ranging from Baroque to nu-Metal and taking in pretty much every stylism in between.”
