Highland fifth grader Klaudia and her mom, Malgorzata, recently read a book in English and Polish to the school’s English Learner students. Afterward, they both shared stories about Poland with the group.
Malgorzata grew up in Poland and moved to the United States when she was 18. Growing up in America, Klaudia still embraces her family’s Polish heritage. She attends Polish school, where she learns Polish history, language and culture. And each summer, their family visits Poland. Klaudia enjoys teaching her Polish friends how to speak English!
Each month, Highland’s English Learner program invites a guest reader to read a children’s book in a different language. The students enjoy learning about the many different languages and cultures represented at Highland!
