Preschool registration for 2019-20 school year will open Friday, Feb. 1 at 8 a.m.
Downers Grove Grade School District 58 invites parents to attend an open house to learn more about its gold-rated Grove Children’s Preschool program. Due to inclement weather, the open houses have been rescheduled to the following dates:
- Preschool Open House at Henry Puffer School, 2220 Haddow Ave. Rescheduled from Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. to Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.
- Preschool Open House at Indian Trail School, 6235 Stonewall Ave. Rescheduled from Thursday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. to Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
The preschool invites prospective preschool families to attend from 6-6:30 p.m. and current preschool families to attend from 6:30-7 p.m. All parents may tour the preschool, meet the staff and ask questions throughout the open house.
Grove Children’s Preschool registration for the 2019-20 school year will open online at www.dg58.org/preschool on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at 8 a.m.
Grove Children’s Preschool is located at Henry Puffer and Indian Trail schools in Downers Grove. New in fall 2019, all preschool classrooms will be in session five days per week. Students may register for the morning session (8:50-11:30 a.m.) or the afternoon session (12:30-3:10 p.m.).
Previously, Grove Children’s Preschool took place four-days-per-week for tuition and early childhood special education preschoolers. The new 2019-20 school schedule will add 27 instructional days to their calendars.
“We are so happy to provide a five-day week for all preschool students,” said Preschool Coordinator Jackelyn Cadard. “We look forward to adding new learning experiences and growing opportunities for our students next year!”

o Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Curriculum, a research-based foundational literacy skill curriculum that delivers high-quality, developmentally-appropriate handwriting instruction.
o Michael Haggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum, which is a research-based curriculum that provides students daily lessons in: letter naming, rhyme, onset fluency, blending, identifying final and/or medial sounds, segmenting, adding/deleting/substituting phonemes and language awareness.
- Engages parents and family members through a variety of volunteer opportunities, family fun nights and parent education events.
- Offers students participation in a variety of community experiences through the Downers Grove Public Library, Downers Grove Fire and Police departments, DuPage County Health Department and other local community resources.
