This summer, teams of teachers, staff, parents and administrators collaboratively created action steps for the District’s three strategic goals. On Monday evening, the District 58 Board of Education approved the resulting District 58 Strategic Plan Action Steps.
These steps will guide District 58 as we pursue excellence in education through our Strategic Plan, and we need your help!
The action steps direct the District to form working groups to accomplish different facets of our Strategic Plan. It is our hope that each working group will include balanced representation from our schools and stakeholders. The working groups are the:
- Curriculum Council (comprises mostly teachers and staff, with very limited parent spots)
- Professional Learning Council (comprises teachers and staff)
- Superintendent's Community Advisory Council (comprises parents and community members)
- Superintendent's Staff Communications Council (comprises teachers and staff)
- Resources Review Council (comprises teachers and staff, with limited parent spots)
- Communications Feedback Council (comprises staff, parents and community members)
- Facilities Planning Council (comprises staff, parents and community members)
These working groups provide an engaging yet informal opportunity for teachers, staff parents and community members to provide input and feedback critical to our Strategic Plan’s success. We invite District 58 stakeholders to please consider joining one of these groups!
Learn more information about each Strategic Plan working group, including the group descriptions and meeting schedules.
In addition, the Board of Education is also seeking one or two parent and teacher/staff representatives to join its Policy Committee, Legislative Committee and Financial Advisory Committee. Learn more about the Board of Education committees.
If you are interested in joining a Strategic Plan working group or a Board of Education committee, please complete this brief interest form by Wednesday, Sept. 26.
The Strategic Plan Development Team chairs will review each application and select parents in a manner that ensures each group contains proportional representation from our stakeholders. For example, we hope to include 2 parents from each school within our Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council. If more parents sign up for a committee than allotted, we will first prioritize parents who previously served on a related group (i.e. Strategic Plan Development Team this summer or the Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council last year). We will then review the short essay answers and determine placement by interest level, with the goal of including as many parents as possible in this process!
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration. We look forward to working together as we pursue excellence throughout District 58!
Sincerely,
Kari Cremascoli,
Superintendent Justin Sisul, Chair of Learning Goal 1
Jayne Yudzentis, Chair of Connections Goal 2
Todd Drafall, Chair of Futures Goal 3
