Welcome back, District 58 teachers! This morning, District 58 kicked off its opening day Teacher Institute at Benedictine University with:
- A teacher contract update
- Introductions of new teachers
- An inspirational message by Superintendent Dr. Kari Cremascoli on making a difference
- An inspirational and very creative video featuring District 58 students and parents sharing the most important things they've learned and the significant impact their teachers have made on their lives.
- Messages from the Board of Education, DGEEA Teacher's Union and the Education Foundation
- A Strategic Plan update and...
- Service Awards!
After the morning's opening presentations, teachers and administrators broke into grade-level or specialist groups and headed to classrooms for a day of learning, led by administrators and instructional coaches! Some of the many topics that teachers delved into included:
- English-Language Arts curriculum resource prep, with a review of the internal ELA resource website
- Getting started with iOS11, led by Apple Education instructors
- ELA tech integration, led by District 58 instructional coaches
- Building-based staff development
- Specials curricular review and updates (for specials teachers, i.e. art, PE, music, etc)
