The Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Board of Education approved the appointment of Stephanie Dornan to the Herrick Middle School assistant principal position during the Board’s regular meeting Monday, July 9. Dornan will begin her new role on Monday, July 30.
“We are proud to recommend Ms. Stephanie Dornan to the Board of Education for the position of assistant principal at Herrick Middle School,” said Superintendent Dr. Kari Cremascoli. “Ms. Dornan brings a data-driven and collaborative approach to her new position, aiming to help each student learn and grow.”
Dornan just completed a one-year position as a resident principal at Hitch School in the Chicago Public School District. Dornan spent the previous three years teaching eighth grade math and serving as the grade-level lead teacher at Intrinsic School in Chicago, and as a high school math teacher at VOISE Academy for four years prior to that.
“The interview teams shared that they were impressed by Ms. Dornan’s depth of knowledge related to teaching, learning, curriculum development and instructional practices,” said Herrick Principal Matt Neustadt. “We are confident that Ms. Dornan will be a tremendous asset to District 58 and Herrick Middle School.”
Dornan earned her master’s degree in school administration/principalship and her bachelor’s degree in mathematics, secondary education and Spanish, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
“I am incredibly excited to join the Herrick team,” Dornan said. “As a former student of District 58, it is exciting to come home and be a part of the community that I grew up in.”
