Grove Foundation honors 24 fifth graders for work ethic, attitude

Downers Grove SD58 News

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 proudly partners with many community organizations to support its students. For example, the nonprofit Grove Foundation has served the Downers Grove community for more than 25 years, helping to fund District 58’s Little Sprouts Program and coordinating the Helping Children Grow Awards for District 58 fifth graders.

Each year, the Grove Foundation selects one fifth grader from each District 58 classroom to receive their Helping Children Grow Award. Students are nominated by their teachers. They award students who display characteristics not always captured by traditional school awards, such as work ethic, positive attitude, friendliness and effort.

Throughout the school year, the Grove Foundation surprises the fifth grade award recipients during a school assembly surrounded by their peers, teachers and parents. Award recipients receive a certificate and a gift from Anderson’s Bookshop.

Congratulations to this year’s Helping Children Grow award recipients!
