Downers Grove Grade School District 58 reminds families that the last day of school is Tuesday, June 5. It is a half day for students. Elementary school (grades 1-6 and OKEEP) will dismiss at 11:40 a.m. and middle school will let out at 11:53 a.m. Half-day kindergarten students will dismiss at 11:05 a.m. as usual.
District 58 wishes its families a safe, relaxing and educational summer vacation. The District encourages all students to set aside time to read and practice math a little each day. At least 20 minutes of reading and 10 minutes of math practice will help keep young minds active and learning all through the summer!
A great way to practice math is by signing up for the District 58 PTA Summer Math Club! The club is open to current elementary students and is designed to keep math brains strong all summer long. Students can earn fun prizes throughout the summer! Elementary students will receive Summer Math Club information from their teachers this week. Interested parents can also learn more about the club via the below links:
Students will receive Level 1 practice sheets at school; they were also emailed directly to parents. Due to copyright laws, we cannot link them here. Do you have a child in high school? The PTA Summer Math Club seeks high school students to grade the math worksheets. Volunteers can receive service hour credit. Learn more and sign up here.
District 58 is also proud to partner with the Downers Grove Public Library for this year’s Summer Reading Program. District 58 students who track their reading this summer can win fun prizes from the library! Students received Summer Reading Program information from the library earlier this month. District 58 invites parents and students to visit its Summer Learning webpage at www.dg58.org/summer for additional summer learning opportunities and ideas! The website includes information on summer learning parent resources, such as suggested reading lists and educational apps, as well as information on District and local summer learning programs.
