Downers Grove Grade School District 58 is pleased to announce that Todd Drafall will join its administrative team as the assistant superintendent for business and chief school business official (CSBO) beginning July 1, 2018. The Board of Education approved Drafall’s appointment during its regular May 14 meeting.
“It was my pleasure to recommend the candidate of choice, Todd Drafall, to the Board on Monday evening,” said Superintendent Dr. Kari Cremascoli. “Interview teams were impressed by his extensive knowledge and diverse educational experiences. He has strong background in educational finance, budgeting and facilities oversight. Additionally, he exudes a sense of caring, intelligence, creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for his work. We look forward to having Todd join our team.”
Drafall will bring 18 years of school district business experience to his new role. He currently serves as the chief financial and operational officer for Proviso High School District 209 and as an adjunct professor at Concordia University. Previously, he held business and finance leadership roles in Minooka High School District 111, Cary Community School District 26 and West Aurora School District 129. He also served as the tax department manager for the Kane County Clerk’s Office.
Drafall earned his master’s degree in school business management from Northern Illinois University and his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He currently is pursuing his doctorate at Concordia University and anticipates receiving this degree in spring 2019. Drafall is an active member of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials, and has received the association’s Lighthouse Award for best practices in school business.
“I am thrilled to join the District 58 team, and I look forward to collaborating with administrators, staff, families and community partners to maximize the equitable allocation of classroom resources to improve student achievement,” Drafall said.
As the District 58 assistant superintendent for business, Drafall will lead and direct all school operations related to budgeting and financial planning; buildings and grounds; construction planning; purchasing and supply management; pupil transportation; cafeteria operations; and accounting and reporting and related areas.
Drafall will replace current Assistant Superintendent for Business/CSBO David Bein, who accepted a business administrator position at another school district.
