Several Belle Aire students recently returned to school after hours to read their favorite books to very special friends: certified therapy dogs. This event, called "Reading to the Dogs," is a Belle Aire tradition.
LRC Teacher Joan Mommsen has coordinated this event for several years. She said children often feel more comfortable reading to dogs, since dogs appear to quietly listen and do not judge or critique.
