Seven District 58 teams advance to state Destination Imagination competition

Several District 58 students from Whittier, Pierce Downer, Lester and Pierce Downer sharpened their problem-solving, collaboration and creativity skills during the regional Destination Imagination competition on Saturday, March 3.

Destination Imagination is a global program that encourages students to team up to solve challenges related to science, engineering, fine arts and service. School PTAs coordinate the program.

This year, seven Destination Imagination teams were selected to advance to the state competition, which will take place March 24. Congratulations to everyone who participated, especially these advancing teams!

First Place:

  • Upside-Down Triangle – Fine Arts Challenge – Herrick seventh graders Grace, Jessica and Tabitha
  • Beauties and the Beast – Improv Challenge – Whittier sixth graders Michaela, Lizzy, Miles and Anna
  • Krugman’s Clan – Engineering Challenge – Whittier sixth graders Michael, Owen, Nate, Emmett, Drew, Suleman and Steven

Second Place:

  • DIYs – Service Learning Challenge – Whittier third graders Evelyn, Addy, Sophie, Peyton, Maeve and Alaina
  • It’s My Birthday – Improv Challenge – Whittier fourth graders Amanda, Tessa, Molly, Alyson, Mallory, Lucy and Hannah Grace
  • DI Beats Beauty – Fine Arts Challenge – Whittier fifth graders Brady, Anthony, Charlie, Kailyn and Ellie

Third Place:

  • Olama.com – Fine Arts Challenge – Pierce Downer sixth graders Ryan, Will, Drew, Malini, Pallavi, Rajan and Emilia
