Downers Grove Grade School District 58 congratulates the 41* fifth and sixth graders selected to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA)’s All-State Elementary Chorus on Saturday, Jan. 27. Only 300 students statewide were chosen for this honor.
The students will rehearse in the morning with the state’s top student vocalists and nationally-renowned conductors. In the afternoon, the entire ensemble will perform at the Peoria Civic Center.
District 58 students were selected by their participation in the Downers Grove Children’s Choir and with a music teacher recommendation. District 58 music teachers are directing extra choir practices for the ILMEA students during the weeks leading up to the performance. The students and music teachers alike are working hard, practicing during lunch and other non-class times.
