Several Lester students enjoyed a hands-on coding experience last Friday when an Argonne computer scientist visited their classrooms! After learning how computer scientists use scientific data and coding while on the job, the students used Chromebooks to generate their own beginner’s code.
When asked what they liked about coding, third grader Emily said, “I like making things move on the screen” and third grader Jacob said, “I really enjoy the process of writing code.”
The Argonne visit was a part of Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code, a worldwide initiative to encourage children to spend time coding in school. Here are some photos from Mrs. Beard’s third grade classroom!
