Congratulations to our O’Neill and Herrick eighth graders on their promotion to high school on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
O'Neill Middle School eighth graders received their promotion certificates at Downers Grove North on Thursday, June 8 at 5 p.m. The promotion included the Pledge of Allegiance by Student Council Vice President Riley Vondrasek and a promotion speech, titled "Postscript," by Student Council President Teagan Smith.
Superintendent Dr. Kari Cremascoli presented the Pride of O'Neill certificates to Mary Davenport and Rahshon Murff. Dick Rooney of the American Legion presented this year's American Legion Awards to Kyra Cain and Josephina (Josie) Gadzala.
Herrick Middle School eighth graders were promoted at Downers Grove North on Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. The promotion opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and Class of 2017 Address by Eighth Grade Student Drew Driscoll.
The American Legion's Ed Ludwig was joined by Social Studies Teacher Jay Swanstrom to present this year's American Legion Awards to Carissa Blumka and Christopher “Emmitt” Thulin. ELA Teacher Megan Winthrop and Math Teacher Julie Frank presented the Barb Blumenschein Awards to Elijah Chen, Hannah Crowe, Aidan Stephens and Caroline Pleune. This special award is named in honor of former beloved Herrick teacher Barb Blumenschein, who passed away in 2005.
