Reminder: The District 58 Downers Grovetrotters will play the world-famous Harlem Wizards this Sunday

District 58’s Downers Grovetrotters basketball team looks forward to playing the world-famous Harlem Wizards on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Downers Grove South High School, 1436 Norfolk St. This Education Foundation fundraiser will offer great basketball, entertainment, comedy and more!

O’Neill Principal Matt Durbala and Herrick Math Teacher Dick Resh will coach the District 58 team of outstanding teachers, principals and staff from across the district, and Rep. David Olsen, Mayor Martin Tully and County Board Member/Former Mayor Brian Krajewski will referee the game.

The fantastic team includes players from each District 58 school. Wear your school’s spirit colors to the game and cheer on your players!

The legendary Jim Mizener will be the announcer. Mizener has been the voice of Downers Grove South games since 1985. In 2012, he was inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame as a contributor to the game. Kyra Cain and Diana Kwak, both O’Neill students, will sing the national anthem.

Proceeds from the Harlem Wizards game will benefit the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $12 at the game. Reserved seating costs $20, and courtside plus tickets are sold out. Guests may purchase advance tickets online at http://www.harlemwizards.com/schedule-tickets/ or in person at Realty Executives, 943 Maple Ave., on weekdays between noon and 4 p.m.

The talented Harlem Wizards play basketball games worldwide. The players provide a fantastic basketball performance, which includes elite athleticism, impressive slam dunks, fancy tricks and top-notch comedy.

The event will also feature a raffle and souvenirs. Students who purchase a Wiz Kid jersey before the game will be invited to warm up with the Wizards and take a special photo with the players.
