District 58 kicked off the new school year on Monday, Aug. 29. Here are photo highlights from El Sierra -- outside before school started, and indoors in Mrs. Hazen's kindergarten classroom and Mrs. Bennett's first grade classroom. Mrs. Hazen's kindergarteners started their school year drawing pictures that described their summer. Meanwhile, Mrs. Bennett taught her students about the Morning Meeting, and showed them how to greet one another. The Morning Meeting is a component of the Second Step Curriculum, the social-emotional learning curriculum that District 58 uses.
