The Illinois State Board of Education awarded District 58’s Grove Children’s Preschool a gold rating on its 2015-16 Preschool for All state audit report. The gold rating is the highest score that an Illinois preschool can achieve, and this is the first year that Grove Children's Preschool has earned this level of recognition.

“I am thrilled that the State recognized Grove Children’s Preschool with a gold rating for having the highest quality standards among preschool programs in Illinois!” said Preschool Coordinator Jackelyn Cadard. “This award represents the partnerships we have created with our parents and the Downers Grove Community to enhance the quality of education for our youngest learners. Our preschool staff worked very hard to make many important program improvements last year, and I’m very proud of the work we accomplished.”

The preschool’s recent enhancements attributed to its improved score. Last year, the program enhanced its curriculum, increased social-emotional skill instruction and improved parent communication, to name just a few examples.

According to ExeleRate Illinois, the state's preschool rating system, a Gold rating signifies: "programs that meet or go beyond the highest quality goals" and "programs (that) have met the highest quality standards in three areas: learning environment and teaching quality; administrative standards; and training & education. Programs are actively engaged in continuous quality improvement."
