Register for summer school programs by April 29

Looking for educational and entertaining summer activities for the kids? Downers Grove Grade School District 58 will once again offer its dynamic Summer School and Extended School Year programs for families. Registration is open through Friday, April 29.

To register for Summer School online, please visit https://www.dg58.info/SummerSchool. Scroll down to read the course descriptions and click the “Register student” button. You may also access course descriptions and paper registration materials at http://tinyurl.com/hu7g2do.

Summer School is open to students enrolled in public, private or parochial schools. However, to participate, students must live within the District 58 attendance area and be entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Transportation is not provided. 

District 58 will offer the following Summer School learning opportunities:

Regular Education Summer School will take place Monday through Friday, from June 9-June 29, from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at Henry Puffer School, 2220 Haddow Ave. Summer school offers classes on the following subjects: reading, math, art and kindergarten prep. Class costs range from $97-$102. 

Band and Orchestra Classes will take place Monday through Friday, from June 9-June 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at Herrick Middle School, 4435 Middaugh Ave. The complete listing of classes is available on the registration website. Band and orchestra classes cost $82.

Technology - Digital Gaming Design will take place Monday through Thursday, July 11-21 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at Henry Puffer School. This class costs $34.

In previous summers, District 58 has also hosted a Chinese immersion learning experience. StarTalk, the company that provided that class, will be hosting their program in Westmont this year. Looking for summertime sports camps? Herrick Middle School will offer a variety of co-ed summer sports camps for children entering fifth through eighth grades. Each camp runs for one week, and campers will receive one-on-one instruction, structured skill work and game play, and a camp T-shirt. Looking for other summertime activities? District 58’s community partners, including the PTA and the Downers Grove Public Library, will again offer educational summer camps. District 58 will share more information about these opportunities in the coming weeks.
