El Sierra students grow their social-emotional learning skills during the El Sierra Families program. At the beginning of the school year, students are assigned to different groups, or “families,” comprising six to eight children from all different grade levels. The families meet throughout the year.
On March 21, El Sierra families practiced being good team members. Some families worked together to make blankets for the needy. Other groups watched a video on teamwork and discussed together the importance of working together. Finally, other groups practiced their communication, collaboration and other teamwork skills during a “human knot” activity.
