First graders from Lester School wrapped up their science unit on New Seeds with a field trip to Lyman Woods in Downers Grove. All District 58 first graders go on the Little Sprouts field trip. Through this program, the children experience nature by looking for seeds in the forest and learning from the Lyman Woods staff about the plant life cycle and animals in nature that help plants grow. This field trip is funded by through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Biodiversity Grant.
