Nearly 600 District 58 students participated in the 2024 Reading Games, a fun yearly competition designed to get kids excited about reading. The Mind Readers from Highland earned First Place for Book List One. The End Games team from Belle Aire and Highland earned First Place for Book List Two. Each fall, third through eighth graders form teams and read 15 pre-selected books from one of two reading levels. At the Reading Games event, the students then answer trivia-style questions about the books. Thanks to Reading Games committee members Jessie Warmbir, Jill Schwartzer, Shannon Cleary, Tia Nash, Claudia Martinez and Katie Suva who organized this year’s event, held Feb. 24 at O’Neill. Thank you to the Education Foundation and Grove Express Foundation for supporting the event.
