Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year!  It is exciting to start another year at Whittier School.  Our goal is to continue the long-standing reputation of educational excellence. As always, our faculty and staff have been preparing for a terrific school year.

This school year, we look forward to continuing our work and implementation of Guided Reading, along with the Math curriculum that was adopted last year, within each of our classrooms.  Technology integration will continue to progress throughout Whittier as we continue to use iPads, Apple TVs, and SmartBoards.  This school year, our 1st, 2nd and 6th graders will begin the 1:1 journey and have mini iPads to use throughout the school day and at home.  Social Emotional Learning will continue to emphasize school and classroom community through Classroom/Morning Meetings and Bullying Education and Prevention.
This year, our school theme is "Take It to the Top!"  Whittier faculty, staff and students will be challenged to "take it to the top" in everything they do, whether at school or at home.  We continually strive to do our best and be our best, and in order to meet that challenge, we must all "take it to the top."
The school is the heart of every village. Teachers are responsible to teach and educate our children. Students are responsible to try their best and learn from the experiences afforded them. Parents are responsible to insure that their children are prepared and ready for each school day. The Community is responsible to support the overall educational process. Together, we will all work to achieve educational success for all our Whittier students!

Thank you for the support and confidence you give us in educating your children!
