New Student Registration

My family is moving to District 58, and my children will register as new students. How can I complete registration?
District 58 will offer online new student registration beginning Monday, May 4. To register, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to District 58’s secure New Student Registration Portal and follow the below instructions. (Español: Visite el sitio web seguro de Inscripción de Nuevos Estudiantes en Español.
  2. If you do not have a District 58 PowerSchool registration account, please click on “Create Account” and fill out a short form.
  3. Sign in to your registration account and fill out the introductory information beneath “Add Student.”
  4. Complete the registration process! The registration system will guide you through the steps and inform you of any additional information you will need to provide your school in paper format.
  5. After you submit your child’s registration, you will receive a copy of his or her registration. You will also see a checklist of forms and documents you may still need to submit, via paper, to your child’s school by mail or in person after school offices re-open.
  6. After your registration processes, you will receive a fee invoice from PushCoin, District 58’s student fee provider. All fees are due by the first day of school. However, if your child will enter kindergarten and you would like to enroll him or her in the Optional Kindergarten Enrichment and Enhancement Program, your first payment is due immediately to secure placement in the program. While we encourage families to pay fees using PushCoin, if you prefer to pay by check, please send a check to:

Once school offices reopen, new families will continue to have the option of registering in person. Or, a new family can choose to fill out the core paperwork via the online registration system and bring paper copies of supplemental documents (such as health forms and proofs of residency) once offices open.

What forms do new families complete during registration?
In addition to completing online new student registration, new families will be asked to submit the following documents for their child.

Am I required to complete registration online?
No, but District 58 highly encourages families to complete registration electronically during the COVID-19 quarantine. If you cannot complete online registration, you may visit your school’s homepage and click on the “Registration” tab to obtain paper registration forms. Please print and complete these forms and mail them to your child’s school, along with the supplemental documents listed in the question above. You may also contact your school office to request paper registration forms be mailed to you. Finally, you may also choose to register in person after schools have reopened.

My child will attend kindergarten in District 58 next year, and I think I already submitted his or her paperwork. What should I do?

Some incoming kindergarteners may already be registered, particularly if your school hosted an early Kindergarten Roundup before the quarantine, or if you previously submitted all registration paperwork. Your school’s secretary will email you if your kindergarten registration is already complete. If you are unsure, please contact your school. New families who already completed their child’s registration by paper do not need to register online.

The COVID-19 quarantine began before my child’s Kindergarten Roundup. Will Kindergarten Roundup still take place?
District 58 hosts Kindergarten Roundups at every elementary school in spring to welcome the parents/guardians of incoming kindergarten students and complete kindergarten registration. Unfortunately, most Kindergarten Roundups did not take place and were canceled due to the quarantine. While it cannot replace an in-person visit, families may visit District 58’s Kindergarten Resource Guide for information on the District 58 kindergarten experience, including a virtual tour.

I’m registering my child online. Do I have to answer all the registration questions?
Questions marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.

What if I make a mistake?
If you would like to make a change, click on the underlined field or click “< Prev” to return to a previous page.

I’ve completed the form, now what?
When you have finished entering your information, click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to your child’s school. If you cannot click on this button, the system will alert you of any required fields that have not been filled in.

What if I have more than one new student in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes, because you’ll need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you submit one child’s registration and then start another by inputting the next snapcode – this will allow you to “snap over” shared family information, which will save you time.

I need help registering online. What should I do?

Please note: School offices are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While voicemail messages are being forwarded to school principals and secretaries, the response time may be longer than usual.

Returning Student Registration

How can I register my returning student for next school year?
District 58 highly encourages all families to register their student electronically this year. The District sent a registration email to all returning families on Tuesday, April 14. This email will contain a snapcode, which is a unique website link to every student’s registration profile. Please do not delete this email! You will need to click the snapcode URL to access your child’s registration portal.

I accidentally deleted my child’s registration email, or I never received a registration email. What should I do?
If you did not receive or lost your April 14 registration email, please contact your school office (click here for school phone numbers) or email/call Maria Velez in the Technology Department at mvelez@dg58.org or 630-719-2768 to request your child’s snapcode. Then, please visit this webpage and enter your snapcode.

Do I need to create a PowerSchool account to register my child?
If you’ve never completed an online Returning Student Registration with PowerSchool, you should create a PowerSchool account. This allows you to securely save your work and come back at a later time if necessary. You can use your email address or cell phone number.

If you already have an account, you can sign in and complete the form. You should use the same account to complete forms for multiple children.

Do I have to answer all the questions?

Why does District 58 request families to submit returning student registrations by May 1?
District 58 uses completed student registrations to project enrollment numbers for the upcoming school year. Submitting your child’s registration in a timely manner will allow the school district to hire teachers and staff in advance. In addition, early registration helps the District coordinate its bus routes for the upcoming school year.
