    Thank you for visiting the Whittier School website. We have a long tradition of academic achievement, student participation, and parent involvement. Whittier prides itself on the ability to enhance the lives of our students and maintain a positive role in the community by providing a respectful, nurturing, and challenging environment that will enable each child to reach his/her full potential. We strive to create the best learner-focused classrooms possible in order to meet the needs of each of our students. Whittier is a great place to learn!

  • A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...


    Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  It is exciting to start another year at Whittier School.  Our goal is to continue the long-standing reputation of educational excellence. Our faculty and staff have been preparing for a terrific school year.

    This school year, we look forward to continuing our work and implementation of Guided Reading within each of our classrooms.  In addition, we will be implementing our new Math Curriculum - Math in Focus for Kindergarten through 5th Grade and Glencoe Math for our 6th Graders.  Technology integration will continue through our use of iPads and Apple TVs, along with our SmartBoards.  Social Emotional Learning will continue to emphasize school and classroom community through Classroom/Morning Meetings and Bullying Education and Prevention.

    The school is the heart of every village. Teachers are responsible to teach and educate our children. Students are responsible to try their best and learn from the experiences afforded them. Parents are responsible to insure that their children are prepared and ready for each school day. The Community is responsible to support the overall educational process. Together, we will all work to achieve educational success for all our Whittier students!
