Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!  It is exciting to start another year at Whittier School.  Our goal is to continue the long-standing reputation of educational excellence. As always, our faculty and staff have been preparing for a terrific school year.

This school year, we look forward to continuing our work and implementation of small group instruction, emphasizing Guided Reading and Guided Math.  Technology integration will continue to progress throughout Whittier as we continue to use iPads, Apple TVs, and SmartBoards.  This year the 1:1 mini iPad program will be implemented across all grades levels - 1 through 6.  We are very excited to have this program expand school-wide this year.  Social Emotional Learning will continue to emphasize school and classroom community through Classroom/Morning Meetings, Second Step, and Bullying Education and Prevention.  We will also begin to develop and work with students on goal setting.  Taking ownership and responsibility for learning is key in the academic growth and improvement in students.
This year, our school theme is "Score Your Goal."  Whittier faculty, staff and students will be challenged to establish and strive toward achieving their goals this school year.  We continually strive to do our best and be our best at Whittier, and in order to meet that challenge, we will all work on scoring our goals!
The school is the heart of every village. Teachers are responsible to teach and educate our children. Students are responsible to try their best and learn from the experiences afforded them. Parents are responsible to insure that their children are prepared and ready for each school day. The Community is responsible to support the overall educational process. Together, we will all work to achieve educational success for all our Whittier students!

Thank you for the support and confidence you give us in educating your children!
